2022 Frederick Douglass Juneteenth Celebration “Day of Acknowledgment”
The Frederick Douglass Juneteenth “Day of Acknowledgment” Celebration celebrated the history, culture, and achievements of African American life on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
Held on on June 18th, 2022, the Fredrick Douglass Juneteenth “Day of Acknowledgment” Celebration served as a collective act of service and celebration of Black history, with music, theatrical performances, exhibitors and events for families.
annual Easter Eggstravaganza
Saturday, April 16th, 2022, in partnership with Washington College, the Bayside H.O.Y.A.S.hosted an Easter Eggstravaganza.
Along with the egg hunt, the free community event included games, music, arts and craft, food, and a magician
This event welcomed children and their families from Kent and Queen Anne’s Counties.
Juneteenth 2021
The Black Union of Kent County, the Town of Chestertown and the Bayside HOYAS partnered to host an annual Juneteenth Celebration, on June 14-19, 2021, to celebrate Black history, culture, and achievements.
On June 19, 1865, a group of formerly enslaved people celebrated the announcement of the end of slavery in Galveston, Texas. Over time, this celebration has spread across the United States. This year’s festivities mark the second annual Juneteenth celebration hosted by the Black Union in Kent County.
